I have gotten a new job

Today is a great day. Today I have been hired as an Information Technology specialist at First National Bank of Iowa. Basically, I got the job today because they felt I was the best guy for the job and now I have the salary to show for it. Basically, I will be the residant tech guy at the local branch and will just fix all of the problems that employees have with their computers.

This has been a long time coming for me and I probably didn't work as hard as I should have finding a job when I first moved back to Ames but all of the naysayers and my parents can shut their asses up this time. This job is just a new key to a 2nd chance on life for me. I have just been so grateful today as I keep realizing that I make more money than Karna now.

For teh most part, the branch I will work at is staffed by total idiots. The group of tellers on staff is this click of girls that think they are hilarious and spend all day laughing and hugging each other, not even knowing if there doing there job correctly. They were whispiring to each other as I walked out of the managers office today, covering their mouths and looking at me and then laughing and hugging some more. I walked up to them completely confident, shook their hands and just introduced myself. There mouths just hung open dumbfounded. I told them they had better get used to me being around because I am a confident person and a trusting person and that everything in my life is coming together at the right time. They just looked at each other dumbfounded, so I said they better pay attention to there teller window a little better so someone doesn't sneak up and rob their assses.

The manager is so fat, but he seems like a nice enough guy. Hey, he hired me right? You bet your asses off he did. I don't understand why it took him three months to call me back in after my interview, but it is better late than never because I had already given up on his fat

Man, it felt great walkign out of that bank today, the sun on my shoulders and a new lease. One of my first orders of business when I start work will be to order new computers for everyone because these people are still using XP and probably have malware infected all over the place. I will need to have a class and have everybody tell me what websites they are looking at on there break because all of that has got to stop right now. I start work next Monday, but I will probably go in tomorrow so I can get a handle on just how bad the situation is there.

Burt, why have you not been posting?

  1. Time, let me first begin by saying best of luck to you on your new adventure at this bank you lucked out at. I'm confident that you won't let your old habits creep up back into your life and ruin this opportunity as it as so often before. Just remember that you have to wash your hands after you use the restroom and if there is a refrigerator there for everybody to use that it is not the same as the refrigerator at your house that you can take anything from any time you want and leave things like oranges in there to get moldly. If you keep these things in mind you should do fine.

Well, as you know Tim, I have had a rough couple of months. Its kind of like that ying yang symbol with a bunch of white on one side and a little black and a bunch of black with a little white on the other isn't it/? Your up and I'm donw. Just like its always been.

There was a fire at Wickery Dickory Dock, my wicker works outlet down at the docks, and we lost everythin. Every foot stool, chair, mirror frame, couch, baby harness and pant rack went right up in flames. Can you imagine 3 tons of wicker burning in the matter of minutes? I asked the fire chief if it was probably arsen because I had heard that some competing wicker chains in the southwest were beginning to be threatened by my business but he said that it looked like somebody had left a lit cigarette in one of the wicker ashtrays. I'm trying to quit smoking with one of those patches, but they hardly work at all and they burn my lips.

Anywho, as the Beatles once said Life Moves on. And so do I. I have a new business venture I'm working on based on an idea I had for a chordless microwave. I have several prototypes I'm working on keeping away from the Maytag folks and I think one of them might work if I can find a way to power it. We'll see.

The bootom line is that its great to be back on our Blog site and I hope it will be a nice way to distract myself from the wicker soot all over all my stuff.

  2. Oh man, I didn't know that about your store. It is probably for the best that it burned down though. Has your insurance covered the loss and has Dindra recovered? I think it was her idea to get into wicker right, although what a waste of time.

Burt, you need to get back into the dry goods business. This microwave sounds like another pipe dream. I have a newsflash for you: your no inventor and all your wicker dreams have gone up in the smoke of a massive warehouse fire. You are a simpel man and I like you better when you were selling oats and grains out of the trunk of your car. You work better with your hands and feet than with your brain and let's get back to that ok?

I went to the store last night and bought sunglasses and black jeans and a blac tshirt that I will be wearing to work. I also got a pair of Timberlands and a tube of hair gel and I will look exactly like Kenu Reeves from The Matrix Reloaded when I walk into the bank later today.

  3. Congratulations on the new job Tim! But do you really think that anyone will like they're new employee or coworker looking like Neo? That movie is frankly pretty violent and in a bank you're just going to be making people nervous. I think the best advice for anyone starting a new job is just to "lay low" for a while so everyone doesn't hate you right off the bat.

Burt, I don't know how else to say I'm sorry about your business. A fire is really the world's biggest waste of money and resources, because everything is just gone. Our shed burned down when I was little and it was just awful. Dad lost his mower and bicycle and I had about seven footballs in there. One had been signed by an Oklahoma football player (I can't remember who now lol) and it was all lost. We used to go to the convention center when all the players were there signing things and talking to the fans and that's where I got it, but it's been a long time since I've been to one of those. I may have to go back this year because of my blog and all, because I'm finding out the "hard way" that there's just not much to talk about when the Sooners aren't on the field. Anyway, it's terrible that all that wicker was wasted and wicker is pretty worthless anyway, so I can't imagine how terrible you must feel.

And Tim even though I'm happy about your new job at the bank, how exactly is that going to start a debate? Do you know if the bank is lending money for mortgages right now?

  4. Do you mind spelling my wife's name correctly, by the way. Or didn't they teach spelling in Matrix school?
